Bed Bugs
Bed bugs get their name because they take refuge in beds and feed on humans while we sleep. Bed bugs feed only on blood to live and mature. However, humans are not bed bugs' only targets; they also will attack many warm-blooded animals, including chicken and other birds. They are found in almost every place people gather, including residences, hotels, schools, offices, retail stores, and even public transportation.
Bed bugs are "hitchhikers." They cling onto suitcases, clothes, and linens and can end up wherever these items go. This is the reason the spread of bed bugs happens so quickly. You can find more information via the link for bed bugs.
Characteristics
Size: Adults are 1/4 inch long. Nymphs range from 1.3 mm to 4-5 mm.
Color: Unfed adults are mahogany; engorged bed bugs are red-brown. Nymphs are nearly colorless.
Habits: Bed bugs are excellent, well-hidden travelers. Once they are in a new environment, they will spread throughout their surroundings. Bed bugs can take up residence in many spots, including the cracks and crevices in walls. They also like to hide behind baseboards, inside box springs within the bedding, and around mattress buttons. These pests can be found nearly anywhere inside homes, cars, buses, or other shelters. The most common place to find bed bugs in hotels is behind headboards mounted on walls.
